Guidelines

Tallahassee and Liberty County:

Tallahassee classes begin in the fall in September and will run through May. Dance class consists of one hour of instruction each week: 1/2 hour tap and 1/2 hour ballet every week.  If a class consists of three or less students, classes will be held for 45 minutes rather than a full hour.  Some schools have opted for a shorter class of ballet only for 30 minutes. And at some schools we offer ballet only 30 minute classes to 2 year olds. Please check with your school to confirm. Should your school be closed or cancel class for any reason (weather, holidays, field trips, etc.) we are not responsible for a make-up class.  However, should we cancel class for any reason, we will schedule a make-up class within the next couple weeks, in addition to the regularly scheduled class. If the class cannot be rescheduled, you may call for a prorated tuition. Please refer  this year’s calendar of our holidays provided here on the website.

Liberty County classes begin in January and will run through April. Dance classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. 30 minute long classes for dancers ages 2 to 10 years old.

Dance Attire:

Liberty County Students will need ballet shoes and leotards.

Tallahassee students need to check with me or their school on what classes are being offered for attire. For ballet: leotard and ballet slippers are recommended. Tap shoes at participating schools. These things need not be purchased immediately. Classic attire: black leo, pink slippers, black tap shoes. However, any color is acceptable.

*PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PLACE YOUR CHILD’S NAME IN HIS/HER DANCE SHOES AND ALL BELONGINGS.

Dance attire can be purchased at Target, Wal-mart or Amazon. We recommend shopping local at Tallahassee Dancewear on Thomasville Rd.

Tights are discouraged unless your child already has them on when they arrive to dance. We will not put tights on a dancer (they take up too much dance time to put on so many dancers in the short period of time we have for class).  Please have your child wear socks on dance day.  Some of the children “dress-out” for dance class, and some do not. If your child will not be changing into dance attire, please have “gym type” clothing on for maximum mobility.

In our Tallahassee classes, our teachers will change your child in and out of their dance attire at the school. Please bring all dance items in a separate bag – i.e. a dance bag or a plastic grocery bag, etc.

Please note that a small portion of dance class time is used to dress out for dance class. Therefore, please have your child wear “easy” clothes, such as a pull-over dress or other such clothes to school on dance day, that the child can help themselves with. Please avoid complicated shoes, clothing straps, or belt buckles, on dance day. This enables your child to receive more “dance time” and less “changing of the clothes time” in the hour you are paying for dance class. If your child arrives to preschool close to dance class time, feel free to bring your child to school already in her dance attire. Simply, have your child’s school clothing in their dance bag.

Liberty County students must come to dance class already dressed in their ballet clothing. We will not be taking any time during class to dress the dancers in and out of their attire.

Tuition:

All your payments and balance will be view-able from The Studio Director website. You can make your payments online by clicking on the cart.

If your tuition is late, as in not paid by the 5th of the month, a $10 late fee will automatically be added on. You may pay more than your current balance due, however, the software does not allow you to pay less than the amount due. If you need to make small payments over time, please speak with me, Jessica, directly to work out a payment situation that will work. Usually, this can be remedied by sending me money via Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp, and I will manually credit your account from my end on Studio Director.

If you choose to mail in your payments, I recommend setting up and using your bank’s automatic bill pay to send us a check in the mail each month. This way you don’t have to remember and are never late! Payments can be mailed to:

913 E Call St Tallahassee, FL 32301

Tuition is based on a yearly dance season (not a monthly tuition); the yearly fee amount is broken down into monthly payments for your convenience. You may find during the year that one month you get 3 classes, and one month you get 5 classes, but NORMALLY you will have 4 classes per month. We do work in an allowance of 2 bad weather, or emergency cancellations in the year (most years, we do not have to use these). In addition, the yearly season includes holidays and follows the Leon County School calendar, as well as your specific school’s particular calendar. Tuition is not prorated unless at the beginning your student starts classes mid-month.

Tallahassee $138 Recital fee is broken down into 3 payments. $46 due with tuition December 1st, $46 due with tuition February 1st, and $46 due with tuition April 1st.

The recital fee covers

$138 Recital fee is broken down into 3 $46 payments. $46 due with tuition December, $46 due with tuition February, and $46 due with tuition April.

Final payments for the year for any tuition or recital fee payment arrangements will be due by April 5th, 2021.

If you would like to pay your entire yearly tuition plus recital fees up front for a 5% discounted amount, please get in touch with me. This is only offered in September.

TALLAHASSEE *DO NOT  TAKE YOUR PAYMENTS TO YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL! Do not give money to the teachers, nor your child’s school it’s not their responsibility to handle payments. Taking your payment to the school will delay credit to your account and likely get your money lost.

**Should your account become delinquent and you have failed to contact me to make arrangements for payment, your child is subject to termination from our program and not receiving his or her recital costume.

Parent Observation:

You are welcome to come and observe dance class at anytime.  We ask that if you are going to come and watch: that you do not let your child know you are coming or there until after dance class, and that none of the children can see you.  Please peek from another room, through the window or the door.  We have found, through experience, that when parents come into the room to watch class, the children (sometimes yours, and sometimes someone else’s) do not dance.  This can be disruptive to the dance instruction.  For security purposes, only DLS employees may help the children get dressed or use the restroom.

Withdrawal:

Notification of  dancer’s withdrawal from class must be in writing: via letter or our website.  If notification is NOT given by dancer’s parent/guardian to Dancing Little Stars, then any refund is void and not owed to the parent/guardian.  Your school is not responsible for letting us know the status of your dancer.

Special Note:

A parent or guardian may withdrawal their child from dance class at anytime, for any reason.  Dancing Little Stars reserves the right to use group or individual photos taken at the dance recital of your dancer to include, but not limited to our program promotions, displays and material. If your child needs special consideration for not being included in photographs, please send an email, so we know. Thank you.
